Encouraging the Household of Faith

Have you ever felt like just giving up? Asking yourself why do I try to live a moral life when all I get is grieve and persecution? I have; and I do not think I am alone. I have noticed lately that we as Christians are quick to rebuke and tear each other down without taking notice of the good the other is trying to accomplish.  One thing we must all realize is we are human. We are going to sin, but as Christians we learn from our sins and try harder not to commit them again.

I have had a particular scripture on my heart lately that I want to bring to the attention of my fellow Christians. It is a scripture I am sure we have all heard and known from our youth, but are we really implementing it into our lives?

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

Do we not have enough enemies in this world to persecute us? Must we cause strife and divisions among our brethren? So often we tear down or gossip about our brethren, when really would ought to be building them up and praying for one another. How wonderful would it be if we admonished our brothers and sisters in Christ? We should be building each other up, and encouraging one another in the Truth as God instructs us in the Scripture. (1 Thessalonians 5:11-18)

When you see a fellow Saint who is making an effort to do better in an area they may have previously been weak in, do not tear them down because of their former weakness, but rejoice with them for there spiritual growth. The growth of one Christian will strengthen all Christians; as we are one body, the church of Christ. (Romans 12:5) When you know a fellow Christian is trying to overcome a trial or temptation do not continue to throw their past sins in the face; rather, encourage them and pray for them, that their burden may be lighter and they can overcome their temptation.

In any situation we come across when we see our brethren struggling, pray for them and offer help, do not tear them down. The world is constantly persecuting those of the household of faith. We live in a world that hates us and believes we are outdated and politically incorrect. We need all the encouragement we can get to face the evils of this day. And with the Good Lord’s will, we can all rejoice and praise God forever together in Heaven some day soon.
